| Prepaid Mobile Review – Think Mobile Caps |
| ThinkMobile have been a key player in the sim only mobile phone market for several years now. We have had their product range listed for a couple of years at least. Their product range caters for all types of customers, whether you are a senior looking for a cheap plan that is there for emergencies or for a parent looking for a plan for their child. Think Mobile has it seems, something for everyone.One service they introduced about a year ago is the ability to set a limit on how much you can spend on your phone in any given month or monthly cycle. It is a similar level of control to that offered by prepaid mobile plans, except that ThinkMobile plans are all month to month arrangements, no contract.
ThinkMobile uses both the Telstra GSM as well as the Vodafone network. Their Classic plans use Telstra and their Swift Plans use Vodafone. At the $12 per month level, the Classic Plan offers you $24 in call credits each month with call rates at 12c per 30 sec with a 20c flagfall. The Swift Plan gives you $12 worth of calls plus 120MB of data. Call rates are 12c per 30 secs with a 12c flagfall. Not a huge difference but if you want some data then the Swift offers this. ThinkMobile promote these plans for both seniors and kids.If you want to move up a little, the $36 bracket offers the Classic with $200 in call credits and the Swift with $200 in calls and 200MB of data. Call rates are the same at 40c per 30 secs and a 35c flagfall.Data on the Classic plan (Telstra) is a whopping $2.50/MB, ouch!The final plan is the 50 Cap. With this plan you have the option of either network. Call credits are $500 but no data is made available. PAYG data for Vodafone is 55c/MB and for Telstra it is $5/MB.Whilst I think these plan have a lot of merrit, ThinkMobile hasn’t done enough with data options. Maybe our seniors aren’t looking for data to be included in their plan but everyone else is.The big plus for ThinkMobile is having the option of the Telstra Network, which for many may be their only choice based on where they live. |
