| Don’t look now, yet another mobile plan change. It was only a few months ago that I was writing a review on the latest Live Connected monthly mobile plan range. The S, M, L, X and XL range was launched replacing the Tribe range. The changes where not significant but in most cases, value had fallen.
Today after about a month of not accepting any new customers, Live Connected who had developed a reputation for low cost, great value plans (and a strong following of over 10,000 customers) not only opened its doors to new business but also a new range of mobile plans. Plans now start at $19/mth not $12, you receive $500 in calls/TXT and 1GB data. Call rates have gone up from 90c/min plus a 35c flagfall, to 99c/min plus 38c flagfall. TXT are also up from 25c to 30c, MMS up from 50c to 55c and data up from 45c/MB to 50c/MB. Yet for all of the changes, the value is still reasonable, just don’t ask the people who managed to sign up 2 months ago what they get. The “S” plan gives you 210 calls for the $19/mth. “M” offers $700 in Calls/TXt, unlimited calls to Live Connected, unlimited TXT and 1.5GB. This equates to 294 calls for $22/mth. The “L” plan takes a huge jump to $33/mth and offers just $200 more in calls and 500MB data. TXT are also unlimited as are calls to Live Connected members. In total your $33/mth gives you 378 calls. Finally we have XL which sees the return of the unlimited plan. $45 for your trouble not $40 like most other providers. Worst still is that data only goes to 3GB. Couple of notes here, data increments are p/KB, so you only pay for what you use. Unfortunately unlimited social media access has also been dropped. Call allowance covers MMS, International SMS, Voicemail Retrieval, 13, 1300, 1800 calls. Live Connected is placing greater value on better service and realises that more heads means the cost of the service has jumped and so plan values have fallen. |
